We focus of three key things:
Fun
Friendship
Faith
FUN: Every session starts with some games, often involving the use of Play-Doh, potatoes or Scrabble tiles. But the fun doesn’t stop there, we enjoy lots of different activities and always have a good laugh.
FRIENDSHIP: Games are a great way for us to get to know each other, but we also spend time telling each other about the week we’ve had, sharing stories and worries and praying for each other.
FAITH: We always spend some time learning more about God and our faith. This might be involve a Bible study, discussion or other interactive task. Our focus is always working together to understand something, so it’s never just a matter of sitting and listening.
At the moment, we are working through a series of “Big Issues”, suggested by the young people themselves. Each week we take a “big issue” to such discuss and debate from a faith perspective. Examples include, ‘science versus religion’, why we read the Bible and the problem of suffering. By doing this, we are all growing in our relationship with Jesus and learning to trust Him more.
Youth Church is also involved in serving in the church and community. We regularly help lead morning worship and in the past we’ve given out sweets to show people that Jesus loves them, welcomed people to the church carol service and worked with homeless people in Lancaster.
Why to help young people deepen their relationship with God and each other through activities that promote fun, friendship and faith
