Tek-Ura Mission Trip to Albania - 19 February to 6 March 2023
I will be going to Albania in Durrës to help do some building projects for a few weeks here are some of the things that I will be doing while im in Durrës

Sunday in Durrës, Albania
Well today I have finally arrived in Albania thankyou for all your prayers and support
It started very early this morning going to Manchester airport at 3 am and my first flight was at 6am to Germany i waited for a short time then set off again on another plane journey landing in Sunny Albania around dinnertime
Dan the charity leader met me at the airport and took me to Durrës to see the charity building
then we met the young guy call Vytas who i am staying with and we went out for pizza for tea and a quick look around the town
Well today I have finally arrived in Albania thankyou for all your prayers and support

Week 1 Monday in Albania in Durrës

So let try and explain what has we have done today
Well I caught the bus today to the centre at 9am and we started knocking the bricks off the sides to get a level but then it was decided to take a foot of soil out as well out and move to the other side of the centre were the football court is this was all done by a shovel barrow and a lot of hard work they is just 2 of us doing this project and it was very warm today and i was in shorts Hopefully in the next few days you will see some big changes we will be rendering the walls and were the soil is being dug out the decking with disabled access will be made and laid down for the community area |

Tuesday in Albania in Durrës

Today is Wednesday and yesterday we dug the other soil out of the side and then I was able to start filling in all the gaps in the bricks with cement ready for skimming with cement today
So today we started mixing the cement all by hand as we don't have a cement mixer so we use what tools we have and we did all 3 section off walls today but the plan was that it was going to take 2 days for the 1st coat of cement on the walls so hopefully we can get the smooth coat all done tomorrow here is a video of me working hard |

Today is Friday and yet another very busy day in Tek ura Durrës I am very please to say yesterday we have managed to skim and plaster the big wall and is ready to paint and its looking very good compared to what it looked like at the beginning of the week and also all the wood came which we had to unload by hand
We still need to remove the vine tree which belong to the neighbour the other side of the wall
This morning we went round some building shops looking for screws and a few extra tools and and a few cakes but after dinner we finally started on the decking frame

Friday / Saturday in Albania in Durrës
Today we have finally manage to take the neighbours vine tree out of the ground a moment to celebrate and to give thanks this as been a very sore point We had to video this - sorry they is no sound but we were clapping |

On Saturday we only worked till 2ish and as you can see we have finished the frame for the decking and also we have started varnishing the planks of wood to make them waterproof
We have now bought some 40 mtr of lighting wire with 40 Bulbs so i am excited and looking forward to this the lights are not up yet
Dan came and picked me up and took me to Tirana and we went to visit some locals people to see how the Tek Ura centre helps in the local area

Week 2 Tuesday Albania in Durrës
Just to put this decking into size it is approx over 11 mtrs in length and over 4 mtr wide so its huge and as you can tell its starting to take shape we are also going to be putting a few outside electric socket on the new wall monday was a very busy day fior us Today is a very good day because i am starting to put the outside lights up over what will be the decking area and we will be laying the decking down hopefully on thursday as we need to fix the decking frame down solid and getting it all levelled up |

Thursday In Albania in Durrës

Its been a very bust few days and we have now been given a deadline that the decking needs to be finished by Saturday because they are going to be having a women's party on the new decking with the new lights
I was able to install 5 new electric sockets onto the new plastered walls this is something they haven't had before I still need to connect it to the main electric supply and check every works all the electric are working What's taken a few days its getting nuts and bolts to make sure the decking is firmly solid especially when many people will be standing on it in one go Today it was lovely to see the children coming in again but spending some time watching them learn and have some fun together wiith a staff member |

Some food that I have had since i've been in Albania in Durrës They are cafe's coffee shops and bakery's every way you look and turn too and there is one a few minutes walk from Tek Ura Centre Here are some of the things i've had to eat Mince meat in a puff pastry swirl had too many of these not my fault Burger and chips Scones and jam to many of these Chocolate or jam croissant had too many of these still not my fault beef steak and chips Pizza's quite a few i think Fruit crumble and custard |

Last few days before I come home

So today was the last day in Durres and we spent all day laying the decking down it was amazing time to be able to come out and help but also make new friends thankyou to those who have supported us as a family at home and also while i have been here in Albania
