Tek Ura - Albania

We work to improve the lives of local disadvantaged and marginalised Albanian people by providing the support and opportunities they need to build better lives for themselves and their families.

Tek Ura recruits, deploys and supports small teams, who develop community centres and learning hubs as ‘bridges’ to various forms of holistic mission in areas of social deprivation and marginality. We strive to make a real and lasting difference to the quality of life of local people by promoting community cohesion, encouraging healthier lifestyles, improving access to education, tackling isolation and addressing the
root causes of poverty. We run a range of facilities, groups and activities that benefit local residents from all walks of life. Our team of locally-based employees and volunteers deliver targeted community projects that address specific areas of need.
Update

It seems unbelievable now, but it was February 2025 when I last went out to Durres, Albania to help at Tek Ura. ‘Tek Ura’ means ‘at the bridge’ and is a Christian charity working amongst some of the poorest and most marginalised in Europe. They work to improve the lives of local disadvantaged Albanian people by providing them support and opportunities whilst sharing love and hope.

I went out to help with lots of building and maintenance projects. I was involved with building roofs; laying cables for CCTV camera and intercom doorbells; electrical lighting jobs; moving many, many piles of donated wheelchairs to make space so that the work could be completed; and eating lots of nice food!!!

Since I was last there, lots of good things have been happening after waiting and waiting on the legal professions, all the legal paperwork has now been completed on some wasteland next to the centre that Tek Ura have now been able to buy. They hope to build a new Day Centre for the use of Tek Ura, and the local community.

At the beginning of 2026, Durres experienced severe storms, causing significant disruption, power outages, and flooding to the local area. Because of the prayers, generosity, and encouragement of
Tek Ura supporters, children have received therapy, families have found support, communities have gathered, and lives have been met with dignity, care, and faith. Tek Ura have just celebrated their 10 year anniversary. All the staff from Albania managed to get visas to come over to the UK for the first time so that they could meet, in person, many of the people who support them. A few weeks ago, all the supporting churches were invited to go to Leicester for a day to celebrate, give thanks, to hear about their current work in Albania, and their plans for the future. I hope to return to Tek Ura in Albania at some point in 2027 to offer more help (and sample more food!)

Dan and Annie Dupree will be sharing at our church and Caton Baptist Church Sunday 26th April
Latest Updates in Albania

6.1.2026

This morning Durrës experienced severe storms, causing significant disruption, power outages, and flooding. Please pray for the safety of our communities — especially families already facing vulnerability — and for protection over homes, roads, and essential services.

Pray too for our Tek Ura centres in Durrës, that they have been kept safe and that no vital equipment or resources have been lost to flooding. May God bring calm after the storm, practical help where it’s needed, and strength to all those responding today.
As we come to the end of another year, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you. Because of your prayers, generosity, and encouragement, children have received therapy, families have found support, communities have gathered, and lives have been met with dignity, care, and faith.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Emmanuel, God with us  we pray that His peace, joy, and hope fill your homes this Christmas and guide you into the year ahead.

From all of us in Tirana and Durrës, and the UK Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

With love and thanks, The Tek Ura Team
