Lancaster Baptist Church isn't a Building but a Group of People

We are . . .

  • ordinary people of all ages from many different walks of life;
  • people who have discovered God's forgiveness and His amazing love;
  • people who have made a personal commitment, not to a religion or a denomination, but to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour;
  • a group of Christians sharing a common life together, seeking to support each other in love, and concerned to meet spiritual and practical needs in Lancaster and beyond;
  • a mainstream ‘evangelical’ Christian church;
  • waiting to welcome you;

Purpose Statement: We are here to . . .

  • Bring glory to God the Father in our lives.
  • Bring others into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Become a Spirit led community.

LBC Mission Statement: By the work of God's Holy Spirit, we seek to achieve our purpose by . . .

  • magnifying — worship of and devotion to God;
  • ministry — identifying, nurturing and using our gifts and abilities willingly and sacrificially;
  • mission — building bridges of friendship and service in our neighbourhood and making the good news of Jesus Christ known locally and world-wide;
  • membership — deepening relationships through mutual love, care and commitment to each other;
  • maturity — growing in our love and service of Christ together.

Sundays

We gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 10.30am and evenings at 6.30pm (except on every third Sunday of the month, when we meet at 5:30pm for Food for Thought).

Our style of worship is fairly informal. We use contemporary and traditional songs, accompanied by band, organ and piano.

Crèche facilities are available during the morning service. Children worship with us for part of the service and then gather for Lighthouse and Youth Church.

We are joined by a good number of UK and international students from Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria. A Korean church also meets in our building.

For those who wish, there are plenty of opportunities to become involved in the life and ministry of the church.
